Divine Recipes

Snickerdoodles

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1-1/4 cup sugar
  • 1-3/8 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add egg and beat. Stir together dry ingrediants. Add to first mix. Roll into one inch ball.

Roll balls in mixture of 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon. Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Chocolate Cake

Mix Together:

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa

Add and Mix:

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 cup oil
  • 2 cups cold water

Pour into a greased 9x13" cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30+ minutes. Cool to frost.

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter

Cook to a rolling boil. (Do not let it boil very long.) Remove from heat. Add 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Beat until ready to spread.
(I usually make the frosting while cake bakes so they are cool at the same time!)
